Domaine Chanson Mercurey 2014

Availability: In stock

Mercurey is one of 5 villages in the Côte Chalonnaise sub-region of Burgundy, and that with the largest production. The reds, which made up 85% of the production, are highly regarded. They can be the deepest, firmest and richest of the Côte Chalonnaise.

After a very cold winter and a cold spring, the weather at the start of summer was quite demanding. It became fine again in the second half of August with hot temperatures. The harvest commenced early September under a bright sunshine. The combination of all those climatic factors has engendered a significant drop of the yields but quality is there. Meticulous vinifications have produced wines with very pure aromas and a very fresh structure.

Beautiful ruby color. Floral fragrances mixed with aromas of cherries and liquorice. Concentrated and well-structured. Very pure fruit. Well-integrated tannins. Dense and voluminous. Generous and refreshing aftertaste.
