Mount Zero Australian Olives Wild Olives 300g
While much of the Mount Zero farm is grafted trees planted nearly one hundred years ago, some of the groves have been allowed to ‘go wild’ allowing self-sown trees to grow to maturity. This yielded totally unique trees not seen anywhere else in the world. And from these trees come the most fantastic little olives. Barely larger than a pistachio and packed with possibly even more flavour than their bigger cousins, Mount Zero’s wild olives are made for nibbling with a drink and some easy conversation.
Wandering through the Grampians National Park in western Victoria you could be forgiven for thinking you were somewhere in rural Tuscany or on the Iberian Plateau. The sun shines bright, the air is dry and fresh and saline, the earth is a baked russet. An olive grove seems only natural. Jane, Neil and Richard Seymour have taken custody of some six thousand olive trees on the Mount Zero farm, and produce Australia’s best olives and olive oil. Their olives are intensely flavoursome with a uniquely Australian bent. From plump juicy Manzanilla to the tiny wild olives, Mount Zero’s olives are second to none.300g
