"Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose..." Ok, so Jack Frost may not have been seen in Hong Kong for a while but his chestnuts are here. Deliciously tender and slightly sweet, chestnuts are exquisite to eat alone, or as an appetiser, in salads, as an accompaniment to meat, game and fish, and even in desserts.
Harvested from the foot of the Ardèche mountains, surrounded by the lush, green forestry of this south-eastern region of France. Originally a member of a group of farmers back in 1975, Descours have become known by true chestnut connoisseurs. Fresh chestnuts are hulled over a flame before being hand-sorted. Once the best chestnuts are selected, they are then steamed in batches and sealed in vacuum bags for their journey to you.
