The secret recipe for Campari was originally developed in 1860 by Gaspare Campari in the town of Novara, Italy near Milan. Signore Campari was fond of experimenting with new beverages and this bitter crimson concoction was his biggest success. Its development played an integral role in bringing digestifs to the beginning of the meal creating the aperitif, and along with it, the culture of the gradual wind-down of the day before dinner was served.
Today Campari has become a firm favourite among bitter-loves, with its citrusy tang bringing life and intensity to any cocktail. Most notably the Negroni, a modern aperitif that has exploded in popularity and become the pinnacle of cool. Mix equal parts Campari, Vermouth Rosso & Gin over ice in your finest crystal rocks glass and serve with a twist of orange rind and some smooth jazz.
